Monrovia — Criminal Court “C” Judge Ousman F. Feika has granted former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor’s request for compassionate release from detention on medical grounds.

The ruling follows concerns raised by Howard-Taylor’s legal team about her medical condition and their request that she be permitted to receive medical care outside detention.

Under the court’s ruling, Howard-Taylor is required to surrender all travel documents to the court as part of the conditions of her release.

The court also ordered that visits to her residence be limited to a family member and her physician or physician’s assistant.

Howard-Taylor is facing criminal charges in connection with an ongoing narcotics investigation. She has denied the allegations.
