LONDON, United Kingdom— Liberia has retained its seat on the Advisory Committee of the International Mobile Satellite Organization (IMSO), allowing the country to continue contributing to international oversight of maritime satellite communications and safety at sea.

According to a statement from Liberia’s Permanent Mission to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the appointment was confirmed during an Africa Region meeting at the ongoing 30th Session of the IMSO Assembly in London. Liberia also led the Africa Group’s discussions.

The renewed appointment maintains Liberia’s participation in policy deliberations and institutional oversight aimed at strengthening maritime satellite communication services, particularly those essential to the safety of life at sea.

Liberia’s Permanent Representative to the IMO, Ambassador Robert Wilmot Kpadeh, welcomed the development, describing it as an affirmation of the country’s active participation, leadership and growing influence in global maritime affairs.

“Liberia remains firmly committed to promoting a safe, secure, efficient, and sustainable global maritime industry,” Ambassador Kpadeh stated.

The Permanent Mission said Liberia would continue to use its membership to support effective satellite communications and advance global maritime safety and security.
