MONROVIA, Liberia — Nimba County Senator and recently expelled Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR) member Samuel G. Kogar has accepted an invitation from the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) to participate in an opposition roundtable discussion scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Jamaica Resort in Paynesville, Montserrado County.
Kogar confirmed his participation in a brief statement, saying he is “pleased to accept” the CDC’s invitation and looks forward to a meaningful and constructive dialogue on issues affecting Liberia.
“I am pleased to accept the CDC’s invitation to a roundtable discussion on Saturday, September 5, 2026,” Kogar said. “I look forward to a meaningful and constructive conversation on issues affecting Liberia.”
The invitation, dated August 28, 2026, and signed by CDC National Chairman Atty. Janga A. Kowo, calls on Kogar to participate in the political gathering in his capacity as Senator of Nimba County and former member of the House of Representatives.
According to the CDC, the roundtable will be presided over by former President and CDC Political Leader George Manneh Weah and will provide a platform for a “frank exchange of views/ideas” and constructive discussions on Liberia’s current political, governance, economic, security and democratic challenges.
The meeting is being convened under the authority of Ambassador Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr., Lead and Coordinator of the Opposition Leaders’ Roundtable.
Kogar’s acceptance comes amid heightened political realignments and renewed efforts among opposition figures to strengthen coordination and engage on issues of national concern.
The CDC says its National Convening Secretariat will provide a proposed agenda, schedule, protocol arrangements and other relevant information ahead of the gathering.
The September 5 roundtable is expected to bring together opposition figures for discussions aimed at identifying common ground on Liberia’s political and national challenges.
