The University of Liberia (UL) has announced the postponement of its 106th graduation ceremony, which was scheduled for December, amid ongoing challenges at the institution.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, October 21, UL President Dr. Layli Maparyan said the university’s administration is working to ensure that students who have completed all academic requirements receive their diplomas, allowing them to pursue employment and other opportunities without further delay.
She added that eligible graduates will have the opportunity to participate in the university’s official commencement ceremony when it is eventually held.
Meanwhile, Dr. Maparyan disclosed that renovation and modernization projects across UL campuses are expected to be completed by March 31, 2027. The projects are intended to improve learning facilities and enhance campus conditions for students and staff.
She also revealed that the university is preparing to reintroduce online classes alongside essential in-person instruction as part of efforts to sustain academic activities.
According to the UL president, negotiations are ongoing with faculty and staff representatives to resolve outstanding issues affecting the institution.
The postponement comes as the university continues efforts to address its operational challenges while working to ensure that students can complete their academic programs and access their qualifications without unnecessary delays.
