MONROVIA, Liberia — More than 200 University of Liberia students are set to benefit from international education opportunities after UL signed a tripartite partnership with the European Business Institute of Luxembourg (EBU) and the U.S.-based International Institute of Family Development Inc.
Under the agreement signed on August 27, EBU will cover 97 percent of online tuition for students enrolled in 200 certificate programs, four diploma programs, and 10 Bachelor’s and Master’s programs.
The partnership will also establish a 2027 Luxembourg Study Abroad Program for UL students and faculty, expanding opportunities for international exposure and professional development.
UL President Dr. Layli Maparyan said the agreement represents a major step toward strengthening the university’s contribution to Liberia’s human-capital development, particularly in fields such as artificial intelligence, technology, business and finance, education, data science and cybersecurity.
The partnership comes as UL continues efforts to strengthen its academic capacity through international collaborations and faculty development.
To support the online programs, the university plans to establish three SMART classrooms at its Capitol Hill, Fendall and Sinje campuses before the end of 2026, with the programs expected to become fully accessible to beneficiaries in early 2027.
EBU’s next semester begins September 7, with prospective students able to apply for available programs.
The initiative is being implemented under the International Institute’s PACESETTER Initiative, which promotes international educational and cultural exchange and seeks to expand access to global learning opportunities for African students.
